About the Author
Adriana Cavarero is Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Verona, Italy, and Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and New York University. Italy's most renowned feminist philosopher, she is the author of numerous essays and books, including (in English) In Spite of Plato (1995), Relating Narratives: Storytelling and Selfhood (2000), and Stately Bodies (2002).

Creative and Scholarly Essays

Excellent set of essays on re-vocalizing language. Clear and unique development of arguments. Of special interest to voice and diction teachers and performers of classic poetry like myself, I should think. I bought it just for chapter 1.9 "The Rhapsodic Voice: Ion's Specialty" but have already enjoyed chapter 2.4 "The Maternal Chora or, The Voice of the Poetic Text." From those two chapters, I know this author has an excellent, creative and scholarly mind worth entertaining, so I'm sure I will enjoy the remaining chapters as well.
